Cam Ward discusses his new Miami Hurricanes teammates.
Which Miami receivers will establish the strongest relationship with their new quarterback?
Cam Ward, a Miami Hurricanes transfer quarterback, has begun working out with his new teammates in preparation for spring football 2024.
The former Washington State star arrived at Miami in January after throwing 3,735 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions last season at Washington State. Even though Miami’s formal spring practices don’t start until March 4th, throwing sessions and exercises have been going on since the spring semester began. Ward revealed his observations of Miami receivers Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, and Joshisa “JoJo” Trader in a new Canes Connection NIL video.
“Strep (Restrepo) is our dawg,” Ward explained. Jacolby will be the driving force behind our success. The young kitty who I’ve been throwing to recently, JoJo, is that special athlete that not many teams have in the country at that age, for their freshman year, but I believe he’s going to be a major impact player for us.”
Early assessments indicate that Ward is making positive relationships with all three. JoJo is an early enrollee freshman, so hearing him talk about Trader is astounding.
Restrepo and George were two of the ACC’s top three receivers in terms of yards last season. Restrepo totaled 1,092 yards and six touchdowns. George led the Hurricanes with eight receiving touchdowns and finished third in the league with 864 yards. Trader scored 14 touchdowns during his senior season at Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna.
Ward’s Miami arsenal will include receivers Isaiah Horton, Nathaniel “Ray Ray” Joseph, and Robbie Washington, as well as tight ends Riley Williams and Elijah Arroyo.
