The Miami Hurricanes are expected to make a decision shortly about the replacement of Jahmile Addae as head coach of their defensive backs.

On February 7th, Addae departed Miami to take a position as the Buffalo Bills’ new cornerbacks coach. Under Mario Cristobal, Addae coached DB in 2022 and 2023.

According to 247Sports Hurricanes reporter Gaby Urrutia, several applicants have been interviewed for the position.

“I think Evan Cooper is a real candidate on the table right now,” Urrutia stated in a discussion board thread on Inside The U. This week, Evan Cooper and Chevis Jackson had interviews.”

Under Matt Rhule, Cooper oversees the defensive pass game and serves as Nebraska’s secondary coach. Cooper was born in South Florida. Jackson is Marshall’s co-defensive coordinator and coach of the cornerbacks. In 2022, Jackson shared a job there with Miami DC Lance Guidry.

Rutgers cornerbacks coach Mark Orphey is another person who has been linked to the job. Whether or when he will interview at Miami is still unknown.

The Hurricanes don’t seem to be focusing their search, but they are still looking everywhere. Liam Willerup, a writer for the Hurricanes, only saw on Wednesday that Miami had advertised the DB coach position on LinkedIn.
