The Miami Hurricanes, who began the season 4-0 before concluding with a 3-6 record over the final nine games, are coming off a 7-6 record in 2023. Cameron Ward committed to the Canes as a graduate transfer after determining that the pros could wait another year. Ward completed 66% of his passes for 3,376 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions in over 480 pass attempts in 2023.
Throughout the first five weeks, Ward did not throw an interception (and had 14 touchdowns) while recording three games with over 400 yards passing and four games with over 300 yards.
With the football, accuracy is definitely not a problem for Ward, who completed 70% or more of his passes six times in the previous season. Ward has completed his college career with 13,875 throwing yards and 119 touchdowns, which included two seasons at the FCS Incarnate Word.
Ward had an outstanding throwing average of 311 yards per game in 2023, ranking #4 in the FBS. Miami was #43 in the nation with an average of 258 passing yards per game as a team.
In 14 games during his 2023 season debut, Mishael Powell recorded 38 tackles, three interceptions, 2.5 tackles for loss, and six pass breakups for the Huskies.
