Bryant Almany, a social media brand designer, recently carried out a concept to create a UNC basketball game jersey that included the state of North Carolina’s outline.
I’d say Almany did a great job. On the front of the road-themed jersey, he has drawn the Tar Heel State from side to side, placing “UNC” in bold at the heart of the state and the player’s number below and “to the west” to match the bulkier eastern part of the state.
The school’s trademark argyle-pattern stripes, of course, extend all the way from the underarm to the bottom.
The design (shown in the photos below) has been rather popular among well-known Tar Heel fan accounts on social media. And on Tuesday afternoon, Vince Carter, a former 22-year NBA player and legendary basketball player for UNC, noticed Tar Heel Nation’s recent promotion of the style.
Carter used three “fire” emojis in his remark on the following tweet, suggesting that he approves of it
An hour before Carter seemed to provide his complete support, Almany shared a Photoshopped image of the jersey on a flexing senior guard for UNC, Vince Carter, who leads the league in scoring (21.3 points per game this season) and is a three-time 2023–24 ACC Player of the Week. Take a look at it:
Without question, the aforementioned outfit would look great on the Tar Heels and probably boost sales. All we can do is wait and see if the program endorses it.
The state outline serves as UNC’s halfcourt emblem. Maybe the school could use it for a unique on-brand jersey.
Next up: unranked Clemson (14-7, 4-6 ACC) at home vs No. 3 UNC (18-4, 10-1 ACC), Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN).
