BREAKING NEWS,Liverpool battles Man City from signing ‘special’ £61m player

Man City could now stop Liverpool from signing ‘special’ £61m player

Manchester City could reportedly inadvertently stop Liverpool from signing Dominik Szoboszlai, with RB Leipzig unwilling to lose the Hungarian and Josko Gvardiol in the same window.

According to the Evening Standard, the Bundesliga side could make the 22-year-old unavailable for transfer should Pep Guardiola sign the Croatian international, a deal that is likely to go through which could see City sign Gvardiol for a world-record fee for a defender.

As per the report, the Premier League champions signing the youngster will lead to Leipzig keeping hold of Szoboszlai regardless of what Liverpool offer this summer, with the German giants unwilling to lose a third key player having already lost Christopher Nkunku.

The Athletic reported earlier this week that Szoboszlai is being explored by Liverpool as a potential signing. However, with a release clause of £61m that expires this Friday and Leipzig’s new position on the playmaker, a deal could be impossible should City sign Gvardiol.

Indeed, it won’t be the first time the Manchester side have ruined a transfer for Liverpool, yet the Reds losing out on Szoboszlai due to an unrelated City signing will be a kicker for Jurgen Klopp, who is seemingly eager to add another midfielder to his ranks in the coming days.

Liverpool will be fuming with City if Szoboszlai becomes unavailable

Hailed as ‘special’ by former Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch, Szoboszlai would have been quite the coup for Liverpool given how talented the Hungarian youngster is. Yet should City cause the Reds to miss out on the 22-year-old, Guardiola could have hell to pay from his Anfield rivals.

As we know, Liverpool have developed quite the feud with City over the years. And the Manchester side inadvertently causing Klopp to miss out on a target like Szoboszlai will only spice the rivalry up a few degrees, which could lead to more tension between the clubs and fanbases in the upcoming campaign.
