West Ham want a star Marcelo Bielsa loves and it’s clearly a Tim Steidten target as a report makes a claim about Emiliano  martinez.

West Ham are in a league of their own in the summer transfer window so far.

Because the Hammers are now “officially” the only club in the Premier League yet to make a signing for their first team.

Fulham initially lost but then brought back Willian in what officially goes down as a new transfer to leave West Ham as the only club yet to welcome a “new arrival”.

There is uncertainty among fans over who is driving and conducting West Ham’s transfer activity and targets.

The arrival of Tim Steidten has muddied the water in that respect as West Ham continue to be linked with contrasting profiles of player.

David Moyes is known to prefer moves for more experienced, proven performers – often players he has scouted extensively himself.

The Scot’s preference is to go for players who can hit the ground running and ‘do a job’ right away.

So there is no mistaking who has identified the latest player on West Ham’s alleged – and ever growing – wishlist.

West Ham want a star Marcelo Bielsa loves and it’s clearly a Steidten target as a report makes a claim about Emiliano Martinez.

Argentine Bielsa was once interviewed for the West Ham job by David Sullivan. The former Leeds United boss was the man who famously recommended Dimitri Payet to the Hammers.

Bielsa was actually linked with West Ham as a potential replacement for Moyes when his job was under threat a few months ago.

In the end Bielsa took a new role as Uruguay manager. And one of the players who has impressed him most is said to be a target for the Irons.

The 23-year-old midfielder Martinez has shone since signing for Danish club FC Midtjylland back in January from Brazilian club Red Bull Bragantino.

So much so he has been called into the Uruguay squad by Bielsa and earned his first caps, impressing on the international stage. Bielsa is said to be a huge fan and sees defensive midfielder Martinez as a key player for the national team going forward.

‘Hammers have expressed interest in potential deal’

Now Football Insider claims sources have told them West Ham are interested in bringing him to the Premier League.

“Martinez’s agent, Luis Ferrer, who was instrumental in Kylian Mbappe’s move to Paris Saint Germain, has been fielding interest from clubs across Europe for the midfield dynamo,” the report states.

“They include Premier League duo West Ham and Wolves, who have both expressed an interest in a potential deal.”

Given his age, profile and status as a relative unknown, it is clear Martinez has been identified by ‘pearl diver’ Steidten. Martinez may also be a player who was on Rob Newman’s radar after he established strong links in Brazil over the last year.

He joins a plethora of players on West Ham’s list of supposed midfield targets including Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Joao Palhinha, Youssouf Fofana, Conor Gallagher and many more.
