DONE DEAL: BAYER LEVERKUSEN SIGN BONIFACE
Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the signing of former Nigeria youth international Victor Boniface on a permanent deal
The 22-year-old towering centre forward has joined the German Bundesliga club from Belgian Pro League outfit Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Boniface put pen to paper on a five-year contract that will keep him at the BayArena side until 30 June 2028.
For the former Flying Eagles player, the move to Leverkusen is “a special opportunity I definitely wanted to take up.”
“I’ve already experienced the atmosphere here at the stadium and back then was able to assess the possibilities at this club,” Boniface told the club’s website.
Boniface, who scored six goals and provided two assists in ten Europa League games with Saint-Gilloise last term, is looking forward to playing for the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League finalists.
“After our talks I now know: This is a top club with a brilliant team,” the FK Bodø/Glimt player continued
“I’m really looking forward to playing football here and I want to play my part in the future success of Bayer 04.”
Boniface is yet to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles and he will be hoping to be included in the squad that will compete in the 2023 AFCON finals in Ivory Coast.

Through a statement on their official website, German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface on a permanent deal from Belgian team Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Boniface has put pen to paper on a five-year contract that will keep him at the BayArena outfit until June 30, 2028.
Although the transfer fee is undisclosed, allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Royale Union Saint-Gilloise will be paid 20 million euros (approximately N17.3 billion) plus bonuses for agreeing to shred their contract with Boniface before its expiration.
Bayer Leverkusen have acted fast to bring in the Nigerian after Patrik Schick suffered an injury that will keep him on the sidelines for a long time.
Last season, Boniface was involved in 34 goals (22 goals, 12 assists) in 55 appearances combined
for Bodo/Glimt and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
He also impressed in the Europa League, finishing as the joint-top scorer in the competition with six goals including his strike against Bayer Leverkusen in the quarterfinals first leg, and was named to the Team of the Tournament by UEFA’s technical study group.
