Former Leicester City, Fleetwood Town and Wigan Athletic defender Darnell Johnson on trial with Forest Green Rovers

Forest Green Rovers’ trialist centre-back against West Bromwich Albion was Darnell Johnson.

The 24-year-old defender was released from Fleetwood Town at the close of the 2022/23 season.

The former Leicester City youth product only made three appearances in his two-year spell with Fleetwood.

Johnson was also part of the side that won the Under-19 European Championship with England, alongside the likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Mason Mount

Amongst the low number of appearances for Fleetwood, Johnson did in fact score against Forest Green’s Gloucestershire rivals, Cheltenham Town in the 2021/22 season in a 3-2 victory.

Johnson spent many seasons in Premier League 2 with Leicester between the 16/17 and 20/21 seasons.

It would be said that Johnson had a very good game for the Rovers against West Brom, having scored a header from a corner and showing some great defensive qualities.

The defender has been known to get forward regularly, contributing to quite a few goals and assists with his previous clubs.

It would be a great bit of recruitment for Forest Green, providing some defensive cover with only having two recognised senior centre-backs in Jordan Moore-Taylor and Ryan Inniss.

It also means that Dom Bernard would be able to play more freely at right-back, having played centre-back numerous times for the Rovers, but is far more suited to a wider role.

Forest Green’s fans would not be surprised if Johnson did sign for the club following his excellent performance against West Brom.

During the game, guests will be seated in the Directors Box in the Wrexham Lager Stand, with an excellent elevated view over the halfway line.

Before the match starts, there will be a fully stocked cash bar open two hours before, and one-hour post-match.

A complimentary matchday programme will also be provided upon entrance, which will include exclusive content.

In this package, honouring Club President and legend Dixie McNeil, guests can experience: a 1-course meal and drinks within a newly renovated area in the Centenary Club, entry provided via the Hospitality entrance, and seats in an elevated position within the Wrexham Lager Stand.

You will receive plenty of opportunity to access the fully stocked cash bar, which will be open to guests two hours before the fixture, and close one-hour post-match.

Alongside this, guests will be served a one-course meal, in a freshly decorated and re-designed private area of the Centenary Club.

During the game, guests will be seated in the Upper Tier of the Wrexham Lager Stand, with an elevated view of the pitch.
