The 20-year-old spent last season at Charlton Athletic in League One, scoring 15 goals and contributing eight assists in 43 appearances.

Palace are now keen on the prospect, who can play on either wing, to get some experience in the English second tier to continue his progression.

Transfer news reporter Alan Nixon, via his Patreon, claims the Eagles have already definitively decided Rak-Sakyi will move to the Championship this summer.

Ipswich Town are said to have played their card strongly, whereas Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers and Hull City are also making attempts.

Birmingham, meanwhile, have made a late entry into the race as John Eustace is seemingly keen to bring in yet another quick forward before the end of the window.

Rak-Sakyi, who once had failed trials at both Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion, has repaid Palace ever since they took a chance on him, aged 17.

At Under-21 and Under-18 levels, Rak-Sakyi has notched 28 goals and 15 assists in just 54 appearances for the Eagles. He’s also played twice for the senior team.

Ipswich Town got their 2023/24 campaign on their new £2.5million Portman Road pitch off to a winning start with a routine 2-0 victory against Bristol Rovers in the Carabao Cup which has set up an away tie at fellow League One side Reading.

An 11th minute finish from Jack Taylor, on his competitive debut was eventually followed by a 76th minute strike from substitute Sone Aluko to see the Suffolk side advance past the first round of the Carabao Cup for only the second time in the last six years, and the first in three.

Kieran McKenna made the full 11 changes to his starting line-up following Saturday’s hard-fought 2-1 win in their Sky Bet Championship opener up at Sunderland.

Scottish Under-21 international goalkeeper Cieran Slicker, the 20-year-old who signed from Manchester City, joined former Peterborough United midfielder Taylor in making their competitive Blues debuts.
