Ten-year-old Hornets fan Bella had “butterflies” when Watford FC star Ken Sema gave her his shirt after the 4-0 home win on Saturday.

Two of the most famous names in Watford’s history are set to have a greater involvement in the club going forward.

When Sir Elton John performed at Vicarage Road last year, he expressed a desire to “get my hands dirty again” when his Farewell Yellow Brick Tour came to an end.

That has now happened and Scott Duxbury was asked about the former chairman’s future involvement at last night’s At Our Place event, where he also suggested Hornets record goalscorer Luther Blissett will have a “bigger part” to play in the club moving forward.

Asked about any conversations taking place with the music legend, the current chairman and chief executive smiled: “Oh it takes place on a daily basis. His input is valued, he’s very, very involved.

“He’s currently in France at the moment, but when he returns home he’s going to come more to the training ground, but he phones if not daily, every other day wanting updates. He’s very much involved.”

Blissett was in attendance at the fans’ event at London Colney and the subject of his involvement arose after a supporter asked how much the young players knew about Watford’s history and heritage.

Duxbury responded: “It’s something they know, it’s something we need to improve. There may be some announcements in the future but Luther is very influential and instrumental in giving that culture, in giving that history, the Watford Way, the DNA.

“We can do more and we will do more, but I think everybody plays their part in making sure all the younger players understand where we come from, what this club means, from the philosophy of Graham Taylor and Luther plays a big part in that and will play a bigger part.”
