Aston Villa transfer rivals ‘advancing talks’ over Leicester City star

Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as West Ham are said to be stepping up their efforts to land Villa transfer target Harvey Barnes

West Ham are “advancing talks” in a bid to sign Aston Villa transfer target Harvey Barnes, it has been claimed.

The Leicester City winger was at times a standout performer during a difficult campaign for the Foxes last season. Barnes scored 13 goals in 34 league appearances as the East Midlands club were relegated from the top flight.

And his performances at the King Power Stadium have reportedly drawn interest from a number of Premier League clubs as Leicester prepare for life in the Championship next season.

Villa are one of the clubs interested in signing Barnes this summer, and BirminghamLive understands that the winger would be open to joining Emery’s squad but at this stage, a move away is not close.

90min are claiming however that talks are “advancing” with West Ham as Declan Rice’s imminent £150million move to Arsenal is set to fund “significant transfer activity” for the Hammers this summer. It is claimed that the London club “could potentially” sign two wingers this summer, s

with Barnes.

David Moyes’ team will be able to offer Europa League football next season after winning the UEFA Conference League on Wednesday. Their 2-1 win over Florentina sealed a first major trophy for the club in 43 years.

Barnes has risen through Leicester’s youth academy and has made almost 200 appearances for City since making his first-team debut for the club in a Champions League clash against Porto in 2016.
