Brentford Set For Disappointment Over Pursuit Of Leeds United Target

Championship Leeds United are set to reject a loan offer from Premier League side Brentford for Luis Sinisterra, according to Pete O’Rouke of Football Insider.

Leeds Utd verging on record Luis Sinisterra coup to replace Raphinha, though key clause could dampen spirits

The Premier League side have been credited with interest in the 24-year-old, who has been training away from the first team with want-away forward Wilfred Gnonto. The club are looking to raise funds to spend in the transfer window following a mass exodus of players following their relegation to the second tier. Therefore, they are unlikely to accept any offers of a loan for the player.

Brentford are joined by French side Nice and former club Feyenoord in their pursuit of the winger but if any move away from Elland Road is to be authorised a fee will be required to secure his services. Daniel Farke has had to quickly work on building a squad capable of challenging in the Championship, as relegation clauses have brought chaos to any plans they may have had. Several first team players have been pushing to make the move to ensure top flight football. Although Gnonto has now been reintegrated into the club’s first team plans after discussions with the club’s heirarchy.

The Colombian has only made 24 appearances since joining the club, scoring seven goals and contributing one assist as his side failed to stay up despite relegation specialist Sam Alladyce joining the club late in the season.

With four years left on his contract all the power is in Leeds hands, although the player is training away from the first team. To allow him to leave on loan wouldn’t aid their hunt for promotion, nor would it free up any transfer funds to be used to better the squad. The only benefit would be in terms of wages, should his destination agree to take on the full amount. I suspect a club will come in for him later in the window as teams become desperate and targets slip away.
