Don Deal: MK Dons Women acquire Lily Dolling

MK Dons Women have made forward Lily Dolling their fourth summer signing.

Dolling, who transfers to Stadium MK from Watford Women’s Development Squad, made 17 appearances last season, in which she scored an impressive 23 goals.

The former Hornet will be looking to emulate a similar successful campaign for Charlie Bill’s Dons as she puts pen to paper at Stadium MK.

When questioned about signing for MK Dons Women, Dolling said: “I am excited to join MK Dons Women this season and make that big step up from Development to First Team football at 17 years old – I know it’s going to be a tough challenge but I’m ready to compete and fight for what I’ve always wanted.

“The girls and staff have made me feel very welcome at settled and I can’t wait to get my season here underway.”

MK Dons Women’s Head Coach, Charlie Bill, commented: “Lily is a fantastic addition to this squad, a young player who is so keen to develop and step up into the senior women’s game.

“She has such a fantastic attitude and someone who shows real intensity to her actions both in and out of possession.

“She’s certainly a player to watch out for. She has shown a great goalscoring record in development football and I have no doubt she will be able to make the step up this season.”

Rovers fought valiantly with an excellent showing after the break as they attempted to battle back from two goals down at Stadium:mk.

Particularly following Luke Molyneux’s fine strike, Rovers were the dominant side and were unfortunate to come away empty handed and still searching for the first league win of the season.

And Westbrooke said the players could feel the backing of the fans who made the trip to Buckinghamshire, particularly at the final whistle even after the disappointing result.

“You could see with the fans’ reaction, they’re right behind us playing football like that – good entertaining football, creating chances,” he said.

“If we can do that for 100 minutes, we will pick up points.

“We see ourselves as one of the teams that will be fighting at the top end of the table. Although we’ve had a slow start, we feel like we will be there at the end of the season and we will click.

“We need to have a look at that second half performance and see what we were doing to create that many chances and pack on that much pressure because that’s what we need to do going forward.”
