Leeds United swoop for ex-Fulham and MK Dons midfielder ‘could be a possibility’
The Whites are light on trusted midfield options, forcing Daniel Farke to rely heavily on Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray in the early stages of the season.
However, they have been linked with numerous midfielders in the late stages of the transfer window.
Interest in Glen Kamara of Rangers has been well documented, although it has been claimed a move could be made for another Scottish Premiership star.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed a swoop for O’Riley “could be a possibility”.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “I think it could be a possibility, yes. They are discussing still internally about that and waiting to see if they can attack the situation in the next hours.
“But yes, I think this could be a possibility and I still expect Leeds to be busy in the finals days of the window. So, that remains one of the options for sure.”
O’Riley began his career with Fulham, showing plenty of promise and winning caps for England at youth level.
He moved to Milton Keynes Dons in 2021, finding regular first-team football that proved to be a springboard for his development.
Celtic swooped last year and he has since established himself as a key figure for the Scottish giants, earning appearanceDs for Denmark under-21s in the process.

Leeds United-linked Luke Thomas will not be making a summer switch to Elland Road this week. The left-back has joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan deal after failing to play a minute for parent club Leicester City in the Championship this campaign so far.
The Whites were said to be keeping tabs on the 22-year-old’s situation as they considered moves to strengthen their defensive ranks by signing a left-back. But, Thomas has joined Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield United and after seeing Ben Osborn ruled out, he is expected to have a key role to play at Bramall Lane as the South Yorkshire outfit battle to survive in their first season back in the top flight.
Speaking after making the switch, the England U21 international admits he had interest from elsewhere, but the move back to the Premier League is what appealed most.

“When United came in a few days ago, it was an easy decision for me,” he told the Blades’ official site. “Coming back to playing Premier League football is obviously what I wanted to do. Coming here is a great experience and I can’t wait to get started.
“I had interest elsewhere at the time but then United came along and it was an easy decision like I say – a no brainer really. I can’t wait to get going.
“I think this is a huge moment. Getting game time and getting into the team here is a key thing for me. I want to be playing as many games as possible, especially in the Premier League, my career has gone well so far, I’ve won a few things, so hopefully I can continue that here.”
It’s not the first time the top flight outfit have secured a Leeds target this summer, having snatched Cameron Archer from Aston Villa last week. Archer was known to be of interest to the Whites as they looked to add to their forward ranks, but Leeds opted to bring Joel Piroe on board instead.
Archer eventually signed at Bramall Lane for a reported fee of £18million. Leeds have made six summer signings so far, with Djed Spence arriving from Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday to strengthen the right-back role and that signing allows Leeds to focus their energy on signing a midfielder or two before the window shuts tomorrow night.
As it stands, Ilian Gruev, Kenny McLean, Ao Tanaka and Glen Kamara are amongst those thought to be on Leeds’ shortlist.
