Brentford ‘pressing’ to sign ‘rough diamond’ – Player open to transfer before deadline
Brentford are among the clubs to have come forward to sign Marseille’s Azzedine Ounahi.
Journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter took to Twitter to state Brentford are ‘pressing’ to secure the 23-year-old’s services.
He says the attacking midfielder is a ‘rough diamond’ and then suggests the Ligue 1 side would be making a mistake if they let go of the player.
The Bees’ interest in Ounahi, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, is discussed by L’Equipe.
Marseille appointed Marcelino as their new manager in June and the Spaniard’s system doesn’t seem to be favouring the versatile player.
The new manager is using a 4-4-2 formation and the Morocco international has been used on both sides of midfield so far.L’Equipe state Ounahi is the ‘big loser’ of the change of formation at the French club. They add he’s considering leaving Marseille before the window closes on Friday but hasn’t received an attractive offer so far.
An unnamed Spanish club have made an approach but haven’t taken further steps to sign him. From England, Brentford and Burnley are showing interest in him but the report says these two destinations don’t seem to be attractive for the Moroccan.
Thomas Frank’s side have to convince Ounahi to have a chance of acquiring his services.

Ounahi, meanwhile, has made 10 appearances for Marseille since joining the French side from Angers in January this year.
