Young talent Nehemiah Oriola has left Manchester United and signed for Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 16-year-old confirmed the move on transfer deadline day, posting on Instagram that he was “looking forward to the next chapter”.
Oriola, an attacking midfielder, has been playing for Brighton Under-18s for the past month, where he has scored once in three appearances.
The formalities are now complete and he has set his sights on a move to Brighton.

Confirmed transfer, loan, release of young Manchester United player
Nehemiah Oriola signs for Brighton
Nehemiah Oriola played for Manchester United Under-16s last season and is expected to play for Under-18s.
He played once for United’s Under-18s team last season in the win over Derby County, coming on as a substitute at the age of 15.
However, his name is not on United’s recently released list of players in the professional development team for the 2023/24 season, but instead joins Brighton.
Take a photo with Sir Alex Ferguson
Nehemiah Oriola is pictured at Carrington with Sir Alex Ferguson when he signed from West Ham in 2020.
He was 13 years old at the time.
Oriola described the move as a “dream come true”.
Brighton’s move could worry United
It is unclear whether Manchester United will release Oriola or he chose to leave against the wishes of the club.
However, his choice of next club is a sign that Manchester United may regret losing him.
Brighton are gaining an impressive reputation for spotting young talent, either through signings like Moises Caicedo or through developing youth teams like Evan Ferguson.

This may not be the last we hear of Oriola.
United hope this is not a costly departure.

Dimitar Berbatov predicts who will win Saturday – Brighton or Newcastle
Newcastle United will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss to Brighton And Hove Albion on Saturday night.
The warblers need to recover from their crushing defeat to Liverpool last weekend.
Eddie Howe’s team should have won the match but was punished for not taking advantage of the opportunity.
Darwin Nunez’s sensational double helped Newcastle win and they are now only 3 points behind after 3 opening games.

It’s been a very difficult start to the season for the Howe team and it’s not going to get any easier this weekend.
Newcastle head to Amex Stadium to take on Brighton and they could be without key players Sven Botman and Joelinton.
This will be a very difficult match with the Warblers and Premier League legend Dimitar Berbatov believes Newcastle will suffer a third defeat in this round.
Berbatov predicts Newcastle will lose to Brighton
Berbatov has predicted every Premier League result this weekend for Metro and believes Brighton will beat Newcastle 3-2 on Saturday night.
“I am disappointed with Brighton vs West Ham,” he wrote.
“What happened?
They controlled the ball and shot towards the goal.
“This will be a good game.
Newcastle are a good team, but they need to know and be smart to take opportunities when they are leading one-nil, it will show the strong side of the players, they shouldn’t have left one centre-back, who is not the quickest, against Darwin Nunez who can out run him and score – that’s easy logic.
I will back Brighton to win.
”
Another defeat would be crushing for Newcastle
What a difference a few weeks make.
Berbatov tipped Newcastle to get a point against Man City and beat Liverpool, but now he thinks the Magpies are going to lose for the third consecutive game.
The former Manchester United man has been wrong with his predictions about Newcastle as of late, so hopefully that continues to be the case.
Il
In fact, a draw would probably be a good result.
Brighton are a very strong team and one that we struggled against away from home.
In other words, if you give me a point now, I’ll accept.
Berbatov didn’t think Newcastle would get the points but he had been wrong about the Warblers before so maybe that was a good omen.
