Coventry City comment from CoventryLive as fans eagerly await the return of hugely influential midfielder Callum O’Hare
Coventry City’s Callum O’Hare is due back in full contact training next week as he edges closer to his comeback from a ruptured ACL
The news that Callum O’Hare is due back in full training next week has sparked a contrasting response from fans, with some desperate to see him return as soon as possible while others have expressed caution, fearing that he’ll be rushed back too soon to put him at risk of further set-backs.
The prospect of the attacking Sky Blues midfielder being back to full fitness is obviously very exciting and long-awaited.
He’s been greatly missed and we can only imagine that there could have been a different outcome at Wembley in May had he been part of City’s armoury on the dayIt’s an old footballing cliche, but he really will be like having a new signing when he is finally back up to speed in a new-look squad packed full of quality, pace and attacking verve.
But there’s no need for fans to fret about his comeback, one way or the other.
Callum O'Hare has gone - and this is all Aston Villa look set to get for him - Birmingham Live
He won’t be brought back before he’s ready and, similarly, his return won’t be dragged out unnecessarily.
Physiotherapists and medical professionals will know when he’s ready but most importantly Callum himself will know his own body and hopefully listen to it.
He will have to overcome a number of obstacles before he is ready, including his confidence in full contact with football, which will test both his mental strength and his healed ligaments.
.
The beauty of his calculated return is that City don’t need to speed him up.
It’s not that they’re lacking creative options at the moment with Kasey Palmer in the early stages of his career and technically gifted loanee Yasin Ayari making a great first impression in a Sky Blues shirt.
.
There is also the tantalizing prospect that O’Hare will play alongside Palmer and/or Ayari in City’s hugely successful midfield, at times offering Mark Robins a variety of tactical options.
In the meantime, we can sit back and enjoy watching the rookies settle in and settle down, knowing that O’Hare isn’t far from adding to what promises to be a talented mix.
excellent in the last third of the City.

Coventry City injury news from CoventryLive as Jamie Allen and Callum O’Hare prepare to return to the group for training ahead of the trip to Hull
Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare is due back in full training next week
Coventry City are boosted by the imminent return of two “unbelievable” players from long-term injuries during the international break.
Sky Blues manager Mark Robins says he’s “excited” at the prospect of Jamie Allen and Callum O’Hare returning to full training with the group, with Allen appearing to have a chance of being involved in the trip to Hull a week on Friday.
The high-energy central midfielder missed pre-season after a close season heart scare while O’Hare has been out for nine months after suffering an ACL rupture on Boxing Day, and isn’t likely to travel to Hull.
Robins was hoping to recruit another midfielder before Friday’s transfer deadline passed to boost his squad number in the wake of Gustavo Hamer’s August sale to Sheffield United, but was only able to add centre-back Liam Kitching from Barnsley.

Saturday, meanwhile, saw three players leave the field with injuries, with Jay Dasilva ending up in a protective boot following a heavy challenge, Milan van Ewijk being withdrawn with a tight hamstring and Kasey Palmer being replaced due to a sore knee, putting the playmaker’s call up for international duty with Jamaica in doubt.
But Robins said:
“The most important thing for me is that Jamie Allen will be back in training the week before the Hull game and right after that, I think Callum O’Hare will be in and out of the training sessions before the Hull game, that too, so it will also be a process.
“And that’s exciting because we’re going to have two incredible players back who will give you the energy, the quality and the things that we’re lacking.
So it’s not a big deal that we haven’t signed anyone else yet.
That said, when you lose a player like Gus.
.
.We have Yasin Ayari and he is a player who can become something.
It’s different from what we have, but it’s really an opportunity for Josh Eccles, Jamie Allen and others, and it’s about looking at what we have because I can do different things.
It opens up different things for us and gives us a bit of flexibility.

He added:
“At the end of the day we need injured players because they are great players for us Jamie and Callum will be back, and Fabio Tavares is not too far behind them, so hopefully we will.
have a good squad.
But the point is, if we lose due to suspension or injury, it makes us feel a little bit relieved.
“But that’s the way it is and you can just do what you can and work as hard as you can to achieve it, and that’s what happened.
