‘I believe he will’ – Everton boosted ahead of Arsenal clash
Mikel Arteta has admitted Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will be sidelined for “several weeks” meaning he will miss the trip to Everton.
Partey was absent from the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Manchester United last weekend. Arsenal have had a strong start to the season, picking up 10 points from their opening four games as they once again aim to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
While the campaign has been paused for an international break, the London side will return to action on Sunday 17 September when they travel to Everton. However, Partey will not be at Goodison Park after suffering a groin injury. The Ghana international was an important player for the Gunners last season, making a total of 40 appearances and scoring three goals.
Speaking after Arsenal’s win over United, head coach Arteta said:
“It doesn’t look very good. I believe he will be gone for weeks. I think it’s a groin problem [rather than a hamstring problem], but it could be something in between.
Arsenal will also be permanently stripped of Jurrien Timber’s summer contract with Everton. The centre-back is suffering from an ACL injury, which means he will be sidelined for a long time. Meanwhile, Sean Dyche is hoping Everton can bring some players back into action during the international break. Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United with a face injury, after being declared ‘touch and go’ for taking part.
The Toffees are also hoping Jack Harrison can return after being sidelined with a hip injury since arriving on loan at Leeds United. Dwight McNeil made his first appearance of the season off the bench for Sheffield United after sustaining an ankle ligament injury and will have a chance at promotion.

For the future, that’s what we want. At least they’re all here now, better late than never.
Sean Dyche says every coach wants to sign a contract before the season starts and so do Everton fans. We’ve been waiting for a striker for 18 months, so why wait until the last week of the transfer window to bring someone in. IN? It’s really hard to understand.
Before the season, I was hoping that the club wouldn’t do what we did last year – let the season start and we got off to a bad start – and unfortunately the club were unable to sign the contract. with a striker at the start of the season.
That has cost us dearly and contributed to a negative feeling in and around the club because you have no points on the board and it is very difficult for the players to get up. Therefore, I am disappointed with the timing of the signing but pleased with our choices.
The arrival of Jack Harrison with Arnaut Danjuma and Beto up front gives us options, which is fantastic and gives the fans hope that we can get the ball in the back of the net.
I want more but we always do it during the transfer window.
The idea of the window is also to improve what you have and improve your starting lineup. Have we improved from last season, based on what’s going on?
Front, yes. Defensive and midfield, no. We might have retreated, even though we ran out of hiding places on the back line.
One of our key defenders is injured and we will be in trouble.
Ashley Young was brought in to be a player for the team, you think he’s a great signing, he has a football brain that is smart enough to do what we need him to do, but he’s just… who started at this time. you can’t count
