MK DONS ANNOUNCES PETERBOROUGH DEFENDER’S SIGNATURE

MK Dons have announced the signing of defender Joe Tomlinson from Peterborough United.

The 23-year-old joined Stadium Mk for an undisclosed fee and has signed an undisclosed deal to move from League One side

Tomlinson, who mainly plays at right-back or left-back, is the ninth person to arrive at MK Dons this summer, and the second in three days after Jack Payne arrived from Charlton on loan on Wednesday. Wednesday (August 30).

After beginning his career at the academies of Southampton and Brighton, Tomlinson worked his way through football beyond the league until impressing in the National League with Eastleigh, where, despite being a full-back, He has scored 12 goals and is their top scorer.

This led to Peterborough signing him in 2021, before making two different loans to Swindon Town in 2022 and 2023. Tomlinson told iFollow MK Dons of his joy at joining the club to work with Graham Alexander.

He said: “It’s a great club and it’s an exciting opportunity for me – I can’t wait to come.

“I knew the interest from the beginning of the transfer window and it was a move I had wanted to make for a long time. That’s where I wanted to go so I’m really happy that it’s done and here I am.

“Graham is an experienced player and I think he will really help me improve as a player. That’s the goal here: get better and better as a player and help MK Dons win matches and achieve success.

MK Dons have signed striker Ellis Harrison, who joined the club from League One side Port Vale.

The 29-year-old joined the club for an undisclosed fee and signed an undisclosed contract with the League Two team.

Harrison is the second transfer window to Stadium MK, following the signing of Joe Tomlinson from Peterborough today.

He is also the 10th rookie to be signed by MK Dons in the summer transfer window of 2023.

Harrison began his professional career with Bristol Rovers, scoring 52 goals in 205 professional appearances for the Pirates after making his club debut in 2011. After leaving the club, Harrison spent time in Ipswich Town, Portsmouth, Fleetwood and Port Vale, joining the Valiants around this time last year. He scored 11 goals from 34 last season for Port Vale but fell out of favor following a change of manager in the summer, making only one appearance so far this campaign.

During his arrival interview, Harrison told iFollow MK Dons that he hopes to help the team maintain a positive start to the new Ligue 2 campaign.

“It was a decision I wanted to make, so I’m glad it’s settled and can’t wait to meet the team and get started,” he said.

“They are a good football club that I have always admired when playing against them over the years. The manager is extremely experienced and I look forward to working under him at MK Dons.

“The team has had a great start to the season and I hope to do my best to maintain that and make sure we can have a successful year.”
