Sheffield Wednesday loses to Swansea City in final day signing race, report claims
The striker made 151 appearances during his spells with Swansea City, Wigan Athletic, Bournemouth and QPR. He returned to the team on transfer deadline day, reuniting with former club Swansea on loan in an attempt to find regular minutes away from parent club Bournemouth.
However, Lowe has attracted a lot of interest from other Championship teams and now The Star has opened up about Sheffield Wednesday’s attempt to bring him back to Hillsborough.
They say that after making solid progress on a possible deal, it is “believing” that he will join the Owls. It is unclear when the deal was done, but Swansea later expressed their interest and eventually reached an agreement. During his first stint with the Swans, Lowe scored 14 goals and provided two assists in 58 games in all competitions.
Lowe would have been a great signing for anyone on the last day but it happened, he was back in South Wales with Michael Duff’s Swansea City. He enjoyed success in his early days at the club and it was hoped that he could regain his form following a slump at Bournemouth.
He has spent most of his career on the right wing and that is arguably where he is most dangerous. However, Lowe is capable of playing anywhere in the top three, so he will bring valuable flexibility to Duff’s ranks. On Wednesday, hopefully they don’t regret not getting his autograph as they look set to have to fight to stay in the league.

Duff led Barnsley to the League One play-off final last season, having previously guided Cheltenham Town to promotion from League Two.
But reaching the Championship has so far proved difficult for the former Burnley centre-back, who is yet to claim his first league win as Swansea City manager.
His side are 22nd in the table after the first five games, having only picked up two points so far.
Still early. It is hoped and expected that Duff will eventually succeed at Swansea City, and the Swans boss discussed what his side need to do better, with special mention to midfielder Joe Allen. .
Duff told the club:
“We have to be a lot cleaner in everything because we have a big game coming up.
“Joe Allen is the embodiment of what we want, he’s probably the richest man in the stadium and he’s had an incredible career. But when he came on, he immediately showed aggression. aggressive and resilient and we have that everywhere.
“We can’t jog, we have to sprint and work harder than our opponents. We have players on the team now, we have time to work with them and try to fill this weakness in the team.
Allen joined Swansea City last summer, making 25 appearances last season and three in the current season.
Swansea have put together a very good squad this summer. But with a change in coach and a change in style of play, it will take some time for this new team to really kick in.
It is a big step for Duff but he will have plenty of time at Swansea City to implement his ideas as his former club Barnsley played very attractive and effective football.
And Allen was definitely someone Duff would count on; The Welsh legend is one of the team’s most experienced players and someone who truly understands what it means to play for Swansea City.
