Danny Murphy has shed light on the infamous moment Clint Dempsey punched through a window and had his arm amputated after learning he would be benched at Fulham.
Fulham cult hero Clint Dempsey’s tendon has been ‘hanging’ after hitting a window frame.
The Cottagers have a historic record in the Europa League Cup season 2009/10.
Dempsey was selected to start in the semi-final against Hamburg because Bobby Zamora was sidelined due to injury.
But the American was disappointed when Zamora was included in the starting line-up at the last minute, meaning Dempsey will be benched for one of the biggest games of his career.
And the news of his abandonment was not warmly received by Dempsey, who burst into the dressing room after a conversation with manager Roy Hodgson.
The USA player headed straight for the corner of his field and hit a piece of thick glass, seriously injuring himself.

Speaking on the Fulham Fix podcast, his then-teammate Danny Murphy said:
“He just walked over and punched him,” swinging his fist.
“The next moment, the glass shattered.
His thumbs, fingers, and tendons hang down.
I said, “Oh my God, what’s going on here?
“ And I feel his pain.Do you think the players will get away with what Clint Dempsey did today?

“I won’t hit the window, but I will also smoke.
His head is gone.In another interview, Murphy revealed Dempsey’s teammates at Fulham and even Hodgson were left speechless after seeing his reaction.
They managed to reassure the Texan before the club’s doctor stitched up his hand.
Amazingly, Hodgson kept Dempsey in the squad on game day despite the lack of discipline shown in his outbursts of behavior.
He even appeared as a substitute against Hamburg, replacing Zamora to help the team win 2-1.Murphy added that he really respects Dempsey after the incident, saying:
“It shows a man’s passion.
I love it.
Clint is successful with that mentality.

Everton’s James Garner reacts to Alex Iwobi Fulham’s move after leaving Goodison Park
Everton midfielder James Garner has reacted to Alex Iwobi on social media after leaving Goodison Park to join Fulham According to the official Fulham website (September 2), Iwobi, who joined the Toffees from Arsenal in 2019, has joined the Cottagers on a five-year contract.
![A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE: JAMES GARNER WAS MY FATHER](https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3KnBUQ_idpY/U_vOIVaVGSI/AAAAAAAANeE/5x5c0BCMp3s/s1600/2004_JamesGarnerclose.jpg)
The 27-year-old shared the field with Garner in Everton’s opening game of the season against new club Iwobi.Taking to social media after leaving Goodison Park, Iwobi posted a video on Instagram with the caption:
“All is good!Among those who reacted to the post was Garner, his former Toffees teammate, who made his feelings clear with his comment.
Iwobi was clearly a popular figure at Goodison Park, and all those attached to the club will no doubt miss the midfielder in the months to come.
His experience and qualities may have helped the Toffees out of their current predicament, even if they didn’t ask all of their players to come forward rather than just one.

Ironically, one of the players who will benefit from Iwobi’s departure is fellow midfielder Garner, who will now be guaranteed more minutes on the pitch.
The two aren’t really competing for a spot in Sean Dyche’s starting XI, but the former Manchester United man now has little more than a midfielder to contend with.
Garner and Iwobi started Everton’s first game of the new season, then were quickly ruled out with a hamstring injury against Aston Villa.
The former side must now stand up and be included in the squad as the Merseyside club look to recover from a miserable start to the season following an international break.
Elsewhere, the Toffees have a plan to rehabilitate an angry player unless there is an unexpected late change, according to David Ornstein.
