The deals Swansea City could revisit in January as Leeds United starlet left in transfer limbo
There were a few moves Swansea were unable to pull off on the very successful transfer deadline day.
Swansea City have seen an unprecedented level of activity this summer’s transfer window.
Indeed, this is their biggest period in terms of player arrivals since returning to the Championship.
A total of 13 players walked through the door, eight of them with long-term contracts.
Owner Michael Duff will hope he now has the tools to help Swansea revive a difficult season, with his side picking up just two points from the first five games.
Incredibly, there is a possibility that the club could add more new faces to the team as some deals have not been done ahead of time.
Bashir Humphreys’ arrest was abruptly withdrawn in the closing hours of the transfer window, but Duff still wants to further bolster his defensive options with another centre-back.
Ronnie Edwards, Peterborough United’s highly-rated youngster, is seen as a potential option.
Swansea are said to have made two bids on the expiration date but were both rejected.
The value of these offers is still unclear, nor is it clear whether the arrivals of Humphreys and Kristian Pedersen, who can also play more in the heart of defence, affect their interest.

However, if they decide to return in January, they could face stiff competition.
Indeed, before attempting an offer, the 20-year-old was the subject of a failed approach by Premier League side West Ham United.
Peterborough is clearly keen to keep the player and with his current contract running until 2025, they may feel it is advantageous to negotiate a substantial fee.
For that reason alone, he could become an out-of-reach target in January.
However, Edwards is not the only player who is said to have failed in the bid from Swans on the deadline day.
Reports in South Yorkshire say Swans almost ruined Sheffield Wednesday’s loan approach to Blackburn Rovers star John Buckley with a £3million offer.
Sources in Swansea have denied this and there is no indication that such an offer has been made.
Either way, our colleagues at LancashireLive insist Rovers is not interested in a permanent sale.
Buckley has finally joined the Owls, joining them on a season-long loan deal, which means Swansea’s chances, if they are really interested, in a January transfer look likely very fragile.
One midfielder who seems to be on the radar is Leeds United’s Darko Gyabi.
The youngster was the subject of a £5m offer from French club Valenciennes but it appears Los Blancos have been reluctant to accept a permanent departure until the club reach an agreement with Iliav Gruev and Glen Kamara.
Reports elsewhere said Swans made the move to loan the midfielder, but that move never materialized.
It is understood that the Swans have never made a specific offer, although there is at least a degree of interest expected for the 19-year-old, who is currently in a state of uncertainty following his stay.

Boss Daniel Farke has also significantly beefed up his midfield options, meaning Gyabi is ranked even lower.
A January release might just be a possibility.
It remains to be seen whether Swansea can be tempted to make a decision.
