31, the shock was included in Newcastle’s CL squad
Newcastle United announced their Champions League squad on Wednesday morning for their first tour of Europe’s top league since 2002.
The 23-man squad mostly includes all of their growing stars.
St James’ Park, although there may be involvement.
largely a shock; Paul Dummett.
Having made only one appearance for Newcastle this season and last season, the defender is on the qualifying list to face the giants linked to Eddie Howe’s side in Group F, or as some called the death group.

AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are the teams Newcastle will love to face, with their first encounter against the Italian visitors on September 19.
Dummett’s only appearance for The Magpies since the start of the season.
The previous tournament was in the Carabao Cup, playing all 90 games at center back in a 2-1 win over Tranmere Rovers.
He made only three appearances last season, meaning that over the course of two years he only played four times.
The 31-year-old is a product of the Newcastle academy and has been with the team since 2010, along with early loan spells at Gateshead and St Mirren, making a total of 205 appearances over the course of 13 years.
Although the Wales international is unlikely to feature in the tournament, it is still surprising to see him included due to the limited game time he has enjoyed in recent years.
Why is Dummett on the team?
The reason for his inclusion may be to meet the player quota desired by the training club UEFA to allow the club to have more foreign players on the team.

Matt Ritchie, who played 10 games under Howe last season, was disqualified – a penny for his thoughts would be great.
