Town have confirmed the signing of former Manchester United midfielder Axel Tuanzebe on a one-year contract with the option to extend for a further season.
Yesterday, TWTD reported that the 25-year-old player is continuing to negotiate with the Blues after training at Playford Road this week, despite reports that he is negotiating with Real Betis.
“It’s great to finally get the deal done,” Tuanzebe, who will wear the number 40 shirt, told TownTV.
I chatted with the manager earlier this summer, I’ve worked with him before and it was great to see a familiar face.
“Knowing the caliber of the coach, coming here was the right decision because I know his standards and level of thoroughness.

“The stadium, pitch and training ground are all top class and the team are humble, willing to work and everyone wants to take the club to a better position.
I’m so excited to be here and can’t wait to get started.
City boss Kieran McKenna added:
“We are really delighted to have Axel at the football club.
“He is a defender with a lot of experience and background from a young age and many qualities as a player and as a person.
He is agile, strong in duels, a good communicator and good dribbler.
We think he will bring a lot to the team and the club.
“He trained well with the team last week and will continue to do so.
We want to develop it properly and bring it back to its best condition.
If we can do that, we think we can bring a very valuable asset to the team.
“We enjoyed working with him this week and he enjoyed being with us and being part of the environment, learning about the culture and how we play.

was very impressed.
Tuanzebe, born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, moved to the UK at the age of four, grew up in Rochdale and rose through the Red Devils academy, where he first met McKenna.

At United, he had three loan spells at Aston Villa – helping them qualify for the Championship via the play-offs in the 2018/19 season – and a subsequent spell at Napoli, where he played just two games, and in the second half of last season, Stoke City, with four starters and one sub, were hampered by injuries.
In addition to his trial with Luton and links with the Blues, Tuanzebe has also been mentioned in connection with moves to another newly promoted Premier League club, Sheffield United and Saudi Arabia in the ‘summer’.
Outside of football, Tuanzebe holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to clear the Hungry Hippo board, a notable time of 17.
36 seconds achieved during the Red Devils’ pre-season tour of the United States in 2018.
Tuanzebe will fill the remaining void in Town’s 25-man squad, which was released by the EFL yesterday.
