At Wednesday’s hearing, Miss Olivia Appleby said the complainant was driving in the opposite direction when the incident happened at Hill Top West Bromwich on July 7.

Zeyarabb, of Manorford Avenue in West Bromwich, a self-employed car repair garage owner, blamed his poor behavior on work, alcohol and illness. At an earlier hearing he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

In sentencing him, Judge Jonathan Gosling said:
“I’m willing to give you a chance. You won’t get another one.

The judge said he was touched by letters from the defendant’s family and it was clear they wanted him to be part of their lives despite his actions.

“In addition to your guilty plea, although this is certainly a serious matter, I find that I can suspend the prison sentence. If this goes to trial, the sentence will be 15 months. I acknowledge one-third of your guilt. This plea took 10 months. The mandate will be suspended for 12 months with conditions.

“I must ban you from driving for two years because of your serious drink driving. After this time, you must retake the test before driving again. Do not try to drive for the next two years.”

In mitigation for Zeyarabb, Ms Ylenia Rosso said he was remorseful and had attended an alcohol awareness course since his arrest.

“He has taken steps to address his offending. He suffered from chronic pain and had undergone multiple surgeries for kidney stones. He is aware that work is putting pressure on him. He wants to work on his marriage.”

The wife of West Bromwich Albion defender Erik Pieters has announced that she has been diagnosed with malignant breast cancer.

Nermina Pieters-Mekic, 33, confirmed the news on Instagram and explained why she has remained silent on her online platforms in recent weeks.

The model and jumper has a two-year-old daughter with defender Pieters, who joined Albion from Burnley last September and has made five appearances this season. The message said:
“And that’s how my life changed forever. A few months ago, I felt a lump in my left breast and decided to see my GP, who didn’t seem too worried.

“After my mother convinced me, I decided to learn more and found that the tumor was increasingly painful and growing larger.

“I’m so grateful that I did this because on July 10, I was diagnosed with aggressive, early-stage breast cancer.

“I will never be able to describe how I felt that day and the days that followed. My heart was broken, I was scared and had so many questions. I’m healthy and fit, so how could that happen to someone my age?”

Nermina appeared on ITV’s The Real Housewives of Cheshire and has almost 79,000 followers on Instagram. Many people have posted messages on the page, including former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan and Chantelle Heskey, wife of former England striker Emile.
