Stewart returns to MK Dons on loan from Aberdeen

Anthony Stewart has returned to MK Dons on loan from Aberdeen on transfer deadline day three for the club.

After Joe Tomlinson and Ellis Harrison agreed permanent deals, the 30-year-old arrives on a second season-long loan from the Scottish side.

The former Wycombe Wanderers player agreed a similar late deal to join the Dons in January, despite the deadline to sign from north of the border.

An injury almost immediately after signing limited his playing time at Stadium MK, limiting him to just five appearances as the club were relegated to League Two.

He say:
“What can I say, I’m back at a great club, with great staff and management. I look forward to the challenge of being promoted together.

Ellis Harrison is hoping he can be part of something special after completing a move from Port Vale to MK Dons on deadline day.

The 29-year-old striker was involved in the last-ditch effort on Friday – with sporting director Liam Sweeting admitting paperwork was submitted 10 minutes before deadline – but arrived too late to make his Dons debut on Saturday at Crewe.

After a good season at Port Vale, which saw him return 11 times – including once against the Dons – in 36 appearances, Harrison swapped from League 1 to League 2 when he moved to Stadium MK, where he is looking for another boost on his resume.

“It was a big challenge because the club wanted to return to Ligue 1, and I wanted to be part of something special,” said the striker who was promoted to the National League and Ligue 2 during his career. I said. “I jumped at the chance when I heard there was an opportunity to come here. “When you play the Dons, you go to the stadium and you’re in awe. When I got the opportunity to play in this stadium every week, I was very excited. Hopefully I can score a few points for MK Dons now.

The deadline was reduced as clubs prepared for the following day’s matches. Harrison is part of Vale’s squad to face Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the striker admitted that while the day was as volatile as last week’s, he remains focused on devoting all his attention to his former club for to the point where he became Don. He continued:
“I was tired but when I crossed the finish line I felt relieved. I think we finished about five minutes ahead of schedule, but before that I felt like it might happen but it might not happen and other clubs call you too.

“I want to come here. So when I got the call, I got in my car and drove from the hotel where I was staying to the stadium.

“My thinking is that when I played Oxford United for Port Vale, I was a professional footballer and that hasn’t changed. My thoughts were focused on the match and when I received the news, that changed.
