With defeats to Manchester City and Brentford, Marco Silva and the board may have turned their attention to the January transfer window.
Given those results, one particular target has emerged that Fulham are interested in when it comes to potential reinforcements.
What’s the latest Fulham transfer news?
Fulham may have lost Mitrovic in the summer, but that’s not to say that Silva didn’t receive any boosts when it came to incomings in the summer transfer window.
In total, the Cottagers welcomed seven fresh faces, ranging from experienced heads like Raul Jimenez and Alex Iwobi to rising stars like Calvin Bassey.
Reports suggest that their spending could only be on hold, too, with an eye on the January transfer window.
According to O Jogo, via Sport Witness, Fulham are interested in signing Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, who is said to have a release clause of €120m (£104m).
However, the Premier League side will need to act quickly if they want to sign the Benfica player, with Nottingham Forest, Barcelona and Bayern Munich also said to be interested in the midfielder.
It remains to be seen whether Fulham can sign Luis in January or even next summer, it must be said.
The fact that Joao Palhinha and Harrison Reed have just signed new contracts with the club could mean that Silva’s need for a midfielder has dropped significantly on Fulham’s list of priorities.
Should Fulham sign Florentino Luis?
At 24 years old, Luis looks ready to have the world at his feet as his future concerns him across Europe.
And this interest is not surprising, as statistics show.
According to FBref, the defensive midfielder is in the top 97th percentile for passes attempted, while also being in the top 93rd percentile for completion rate, at 88.

Meanwhile, Luis is also in the highest 96th percentile for tackles per 90, at 3.
47, and in the highest 99th percentile for interceptions, at 2.
62 per 90 minute.
With such impressive numbers, the praise Luis received is not surprising, former Benfica coach Joao Tralhao said via HITC:
“He has the talent and quality to play in elite teams.
Remember when Real Madrid had Galacticos?
They need someone to balance the squad and [Claude] Makelele is very important.
“More recently, Casemiro has done the job, allowing [Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Luka] Modric and [Karim] Benzema to attack.
Florentino has these abilities.
He is having an incredible season under Roger Schmidt.
He can play anywhere, at Real Madrid, at Barcelona, at Liverpool, anywhere.
He will have no problem adapting.
That said, it will certainly be interesting to see whether Fulham continue to pursue the signing of Luis when the transfer window arrives.
