SET DEAL;The 19-year-old Ipswich Town star will permanently play in the Premier League

The Ipswich Town midfielder, 19, will play permanently in the Premier League

Ipswich Town have seen a number of players come through the ranks and break into the first team over the years. Cameron Humphreys and Elkan Baggott are just two current prodigies looking ahead to bright futures at Portman Road and will both play alongside midfielder Chirewa as part of the academy setup.

Wolves Have Signed 19-Year-Old Zimbabwean Midfielder Tawanda Chirewa

Talented 19-year-old Chirewa has played three times for Town’s senior team but has now progressed through the competitions.

Premier League side Wolves have announced the signing of the Ipswich academy graduate. He was included in Molineux’s U21 squad after being scouted by the club since his U16 playing days. With Wolves, he hopes to develop further and take his game to the next level with the aim of making a breakthrough at senior level after learning his trade in Ipswich’s youth team.

Chirewa has attracted interest from elsewhere. West Ham United and Arsenal were both said to have been monitoring the teenager last year, but after those rumors failed to materialise, McKenna and Co are perhaps hoping to get him into the first team in years next.

He is now moving up the ranks to try his hand at a Premier League academy and he will do so with the best wishes of those at Portman Road.

While losing a promising young player is a huge loss, it reflects the good work being done at the Ipswich academy. The club received widespread praise for its player development, both at first team and academy level. Chirewa’s move to Wolves is another sign that Town’s efforts are paying off.

Sheffield Wednesday has strongly condemned the “unacceptable” behavior of some fans after their 1-0 home loss to Ipswich Town. A statement published on the club’s website last night said:
“Following unacceptable incidents before and after our match against Ipswich Town on Saturday, the Owls are issuing a reminder about supporter behaviour.

“An individual damaged other supporters’ banners and was immediately ejected from the stadium. This individual is now subject to full sanctions by the club and possible legal action.

“The club is also aware of the violent and disturbing video circulating on social media following this meeting and advises anyone who can identify the perpetrator to report directly to the police.

“We condemn such actions in the strongest possible tone and completely distance ourselves from such behaviour, which undermines the club’s commitment to providing the safest possible environment for all supporters attending matches at Hillsborough.

“We reiterate that anyone suspected of breaching the EFL’s fundamental regulations will be subject to immediate sanctions by the club and the full extent of the law if necessary.

“The EFL, Premier League, FA, FSA, PGMOL, LMA and PFA have jointly implemented a series of measures this season to tackle in-game behaviour. “This includes new policies, procedures and regulations aimed at stamping out unacceptable behaviour, as well as strengthening the sanctions applied to anyone identified on the field, using Using fireworks and drugs to compete.

“The new measures build on the work carried out last season to tackle dangerous and illegal fan behaviour, supported by the football-wide campaign ‘Love Football. Protect the match’ to which Sheffield Wednesday absolutely adheres.”

Images and videos that appeared on social media before the start of a banner above the Kop saying “Thank you Dejphon Chansiri” were defaced and later deleted. A number of supporters have expressed dissatisfaction with the Owls owner’s management of the club and have called for Chansiri to be sold in recent weeks.

On Wednesday, they suffered their fifth defeat in six Championship matches after Conor Chaplin’s goal just before half-time. Xisco Munoz’s side will return to action this evening when they host bottom-of-the-table Middlesbrough at Hillsborough.
