Wood has been involved in the set-up at Town since pre-season began in June and has previously worked at Cheltenham Town Ladies and Forest Green Rovers Women.

A statement on the Swindon Town website said: “We’d like to thank Mike for all his efforts during his time with the club and would like to congratulate Richard on his new role as he looks to build on the Women’s team’s positive start this season.”

Cook, who was born in Stroud, has had one previous spell manging the Tigers, taking charge in January 2019 before eventually departing in November of the same year, having also played for and been assistant manager of the club.

He said in a statement on the Gloucester website: “I’m proud and humbled to be back managing Gloucester City. We’re really excited to be here, we’ve got unfinished business and we’re going to give it everything we’ve got starting with Darlington on Saturday.”

Cook joined the club back in April this year, but will now return to the club that he was with back in 2019, as they look to climb up the National League North table.

Following a successful start to the National League Division One South West, the 54-year-old now moves on to a side that currently sits 23rd in the sixth tier of Men’s football.

With Cook’s departure confirmed, we can also confirm that Assistant Manager Richard Wood will take on the Manager role at Swindon Town Women, as they look ahead to their next game away to Portishead Town this Sunday.
