“One of the best teams in the league” – The72’s prediction for the Ipswich Town vs. Blackburn Rovers matchup

The Championship match between Ipswich Town and Blackburn Rovers is this weekend.
Ipswich Town defeated Southampton 1-0 on Tuesday night, continuing their outstanding start to the new campaign.

The team led by Kieran McKenna has now won three straight games and six of their last seven Championship contests. They are now in third place, just one point behind Preston North End, the only other unbeaten team in the division.

Blackburn Rovers failed to build on their victory over Middlesbrough from the weekend on Wednesday night. They ultimately lost 3-1 against Sunderland, who kept themselves in the game early on owing to some valiant defending by Dan Ballard.

As a result, Rovers are now in 12th place and are still trying to put together a winning streak.

Here are some of our writers’ predictions for the match.

“With Blackburn having trouble maintaining consistency, a trip to Ipswich Town could be challenging. Given Rovers’ difficulties on the road, the Tractor Boys should be confident of picking up another three points as they are currently dominating.

Time will tell if Ipswich can maintain this level of play for the entire campaign, but the early indications are encouraging for McKenna and company.

Blackburn has the quality to pose difficulties for the home team, but I’m backing Ipswich to secure yet another victory.

Blackburn Rovers at Ipswich Town pick: 2-1

“Right now, nothing can stop Ipswich Town. With two flawless away victories in their most recent two games, they have proven their talent, and a trip back to Portman Road will undoubtedly help them.

“Blackburn lost disappointingly in the middle of the week, and now they have a lengthy trip to one of the top clubs in the league, so it doesn’t get any easier.

We might see a full strength team this weekend because Ipswich rested a few players for the Southampton game. I’ll support Ipswich to continue winning.

Blackburn Rovers at Ipswich Town pick: 2-0
