The early rounds of the Unai Emery’Europa Conference League have been predicted as a chance for Emery to gain some playing time under the less-used players because of Villa’s newly discovered depth. In UEFA’s third-tier European competition, players like Youri Tielemans, Calum Chambers, and Leander Dendoncker will be looking to have an effect on the team.
Many expect Aston Villa to easily win their opening match as they make their long-awaited return to group-stage European football in the Polish capital. Emery’s team will be overjoyed following their late comeback against Crystal Palace, which resulted in a 3-1 victory and extended their home unbeaten streak to nine games.
Bardell has acknowledged that the away match against Legia Warszawa could prove to be the hardest challenge for the Villans in the group stages, thus “minimal” modifications to the starting XI will be made in the hopes that the club gets their international comeback off to the best possible start.
Bardell remarked in an exclusive interview with Villa News: “I think Emery will attempt and make few changes for the game. There might be a few adjustments because he won’t want to significantly alter the side.
“He will go relatively strong, but it won’t be wholesale like [the second leg of the Hibernian game].
“I honestly believe that Villa’s [in the group stage]] game on Thursday is their toughest one yet. It will be much closer than most people anticipate. It may be said that this is Villa’s hardest game ever.
