A heavy police presence was spotted in Carr Street, Ipswich
A man has been arrested following a police incident in Ipswich town centre.
Emergency services were called to an incident at 1.10pm on Thursday outside the old Co-op building in Carr Street after reports of a man spitting and kicking a man. man and a woman.
A witness reported hearing screaming.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said that a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Oleg Asenov, 26, of Mimas Way in Ipswich, Katrin Sukalinksa, 31, of Mimas Way, Radostin Bustov, of no fixed address and Aleksander Borisov, 26, of Alexandra Drive, Surbiton, were jailed for 11 years at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, September 15.
The group were involved in supplying cocaine around Ipswich, and a raid on a house in Mimas Way led to police finding a bag of cocaine, £1,800 in cash and money transfer receipts totalling £3,400.
Footage of their arrests and subsequent searches has revealed 105 bags of cocaine were found dumped alongside the A1071 in Hintlesham.
Officers had reason to stop a vehicle in St Helen’s Street in Ipswich on August 30 last year, with a search of the car recovering multiple bags of cocaine and £480 in cash.
Sukalinska was then stopped by police on September 16 on the A1214 London Road at Copdock.
She was found to be in possession of almost £1,500 in cash, and examination of her phone found messages relating to the supply of cocaine.
A search of her property at Mimas Way recovered further large quantities of cash and around 15 bags containing cocaine. Sukalinska and Asenov were both arrested there.
Three days later, a car was stopped by officers in Mimas Way, which was being driven by Gergana Malamova.
A search of his car was carried out and 14 bags of white powder were found, leading to his arrest.
Following his arrest, officers searched Malamova’s phone and found video footage of him pointing to a broken piece of concrete at the base of a wall on the A1071.
Officers found a large quantity of cocaine stashed behind the wall.
A search was then carried out on Borisov’s property on September 26, where 10 bags of cocaine and scales were recovered.
Asenov admitted possession of cocaine with intent to supply and was jailed for 33 months.
Sukalinska admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and was jailed for 27 months.
Borisov admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply and was jailed for three years and two months.
Butsov admitted possession of criminal property and being concerned in the supply of cocaine and was jailed for three years.
Malamova, 24 and of Mimas Way, will be sentenced next month.
