With the current dominance of the two Glasgow teams in the rankings, it is likely that coach Brendan Rodgers’ team will go through the rest of the season

without dropping too many points.

Rangers have had to respond and although Michael Beale performed well under Steven Gerrard during his time as manager, things have not gone to plan since he took charge.

A 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon was the final straw, with fans leaving Ibrox before half-time.

Kris Boyd has now shared his thoughts on what Rangers should be looking for when hiring their next manager. This will not be an easy task as they must

decide whether to be introverted or extroverted.

Boyd delivers his verdict on Rangers’ managerial search

When asked who they should hire, Boyd replied:“In my opinion, Rangers need to find an experienced manager.

“I think since Walter Smith left the football club many years ago, there have been appointments that you would wonder about and I think even Steven Gerrard has had his time.

“But for me, Rangers need to find an experienced manager.”

There are other issues emerging at Ibrox that also need to be addressed.

Borna Barisic’s contract situation remains unclear, while the club appear to be missing out on a player personally recommended by Liverpool star

Mohamed Salah. Several names were linked to the position even before Beale was fired.

Birmingham City manager John Eustace has been considered the leading candidate.

Unemployed boss Graham Potter has also been mooted, although whether he will move to a club north of the border is another matter.

Boyd admits experience is key in Rangers’ search for a new manager.

Potter may be the most suitable candidate right now based on this criteria, but many other managers are likely to be linked between now and

appointment day. FIND OUT MORE
