Eberechi Eze, a midfielder for Crystal Palace, will miss six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury against Manchester United.

Eze was replaced moments before the final whistle as Palace defeated United 1-0 on Saturday at Old Trafford.

Michael Olise, a 21-year-old winger for Palace, will also be out for a while with a recurrent hamstring injury.

Before being substituted over the weekend, Eze had played every minute of the new Premier League season.

Following matches against Newcastle and Tottenham at the end of October after the international break, Roy Hodgson’s Palace will play Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday.

According to a story on the DailyMail, Eberechi Eze’s absence from Crystal Palace for almost six weeks has been a shock.

The Gareth Southgate-invited England midfielder will now miss matches against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United as well as the forthcoming international break. He joins the growing list of injured players who have already been ruled out, including Michael Olise, Dean Henderson, Matheus Franca, Jefferson Lerma, and Naouirou Ahamada. This is a setback for manager Roy Hodgson, who lamented his team’s fate before the league match against Manchester United despite the fact that the Eagles had just come off a significant victory at Old Trafford.

After losing to Manchester United in the League Cup match, he told reporters: “This wasn’t a weak team by any stretch of the imagination. We won’t suddenly change into a completely different team [versus United in the Premier League on Saturday] from the one you saw tonight.

“In terms of how we approach the game, we’re going to have to become a completely new team.

When asked if he could give an update on the stopper’s injury, Hodgson responded, “Not really.” The doctors can tell you where section of the leg the damage has happened in, just like with all of those muscular injuries, but they are unable to tell you how serious it is.

“That needs to be scanned. Before we learn more, I’m sure we’ll have to wait for the outcome of that. We only know that a game he was eager to play ended extremely unfavorably for him.

When Michael Olise was hurt, Eze was the bright star for Palace, and now manager Hodgson needs to find a solution.
