Arizona Cardinals make changes at punter, sign Blake Gillikin, cut Nolan Cooney

The Arizona Cardinals made a big move on Tuesday, releasing punter Nolan Cooney and in turn signing punter bet Blake Gillikin.

The Arizona Cardinals announced today that the team has signed pitcher Blake Gillikin and signed safety Joey Blount (Blunt) to the training roster Team positivity.
Additionally, the team released pitcher Nolan Cooney and signed defensive lineman Phil Hoskins to the practice squad. The signing took place today at

the Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals training facility in Tempe, Arizona.

Gillikin (6-2, 196) has played in all 34 games with the New Orleans Saints over the past two seasons (2021-22) after first joining the team in 2020 as a

free rookie due to lack of training from Penn State. With the Saints, Gillikin completed 160 punts for 7,527 yards (47.0 yard average) with 61 punts at the

20-yard line. In 2022, he threw 77 times for a total average of 46.4 yards and set a Saints franchise record with 32 throws inside the 20-yard line. His 32

punts at the 20-yard line last season ranked fourth in the NFL. Gillikin, 25, was released by the Saints after training camp.

Hoskins (6-5, 315) has played eight games for Carolina over the past two seasons after entering the league with the Panthers as a seventh-round pick

(232nd overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft from Kentucky. He played in five games last season after appearing in three as a rookie with Carolina and totaled

six tackles and one sack. Hoskins, 26, spent the preseason with Kansas City.

Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Michael Wilson recorded the first touchdown of his NFL career and stopped at nothing to give his team a chance

Wilson had seven catches for 76 yards and two scores late in the game. Hollywood Brown led the team with seven catches for 96 yards.

The 49ers (4-0) took a 21-3 lead thanks to three first-half touchdowns scored by versatile running back Christian McCaffrey before Wilson scored.
