John Eustace condemns ‘disgusting’ racist abuse directed at former Huddersfield Town player Juninho Bacuna
Head coach John Eustace has condemned allegations of racist abuse leveled at midfielder Juninho Bacuna during Birmingham City’s 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town. The match was stopped in the second half when referee Sam Allison walked onto the pitch to speak to Eustace and his Huddersfield counterpart Darren Moore.
Former Town midfielder Bacuna was also summoned by Allison because there had apparently been an incident near St Andrew’s corner where the player was abused. Bacuna and Huddersfield defender Tom Edwards, who came on as a second-half substitute, reported the incident to the referee.
Birmingham and Town issued statements condemning the actions of the spectator in question, and sent reports of the incident to the Football Association and EFL. “I believe Bacuna was the victim of racist insults from one of our fans, which is obviously disgusting,” Eustace said.
“It’s not what we expect from society, let alone football. Birmingham is very proud of the diversity of our club and city and there is certainly no room for that.
“It’s disappointing. They reported it, it was completely unacceptable.

Eustace was satisfied with Siriki Dembele’s contribution to Man City’s resounding victory. This skillful striker scored twice to help the Blues convincingly end a five-match winless streak.
“The performance is so good, it shows that when you’re clinical it makes a big difference,” he said. “The performances in the last four or five games have been very good, we haven’t taken enough points from them and tonight we were very aggressive in the final third, which is really pleasing.
“Dems came in, we gave him a platform to play, everyone was disappointed he couldn’t play in the last six or seven games. FIND OUT MORE
