For the Boston Celtics to be successful in the 2023-24 season, they will need to build on their current roster but also look to the past.

Players like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and others will listen to the advice of Celtics stars who came before them, including Paul Pierce. Pierce has been close to the team recently and has been spending time with Tatum.

Speaking with The Athletic, Pierce explained why.

“It’s part of our culture and it’s something the Celtics have always stood for,” Pierce said.

There’s no doubt Pierce will give Tatum some useful knowledge to win the Finals.

That’s clearly the team’s goal this year, as they’ve gotten closer recently, but not close enough.

During his time with the Celtics, Pierce was a central figure on the championship-winning team.

For many seasons, Tatum has been a central figure on this Celtics team. The 25-year-old forward was certainly the backbone of the team last season, averaging 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.

He gradually progressed as a team leader, taking on this role and responsibility. This is another thing Pierce can help with as he is someone who enjoys inspiring and leading his team during his time in Boston.

In the upcoming season, Tatum will need to continue to score goals but also continue to develop his leadership skills.

Combined, these two factors will be essential for the Celtics to make the playoffs again.Pierce will be there rooting for Tatum the entire time, inspiring him to inspire.
