It sounds like a lot but it really isn’t, mainly because I’m surrounded by a great team of people who do a lot on their own. I don’t even want to list all the ways our team members contribute for fear of not mentioning something, but suffice it to say they are truly amazing and help keep this place running day in and day out. day after day. For example, we have an incredible designer on “Wreck this League” who goes by the name “Seth” if you use that name and who does all of our graphics. He’s amazing. And this guy “IanBits”, despite his disastrous genetic predisposition, does an amazing job producing our video feed. And that doesn’t even get into managing our daily content calendar, updating and editing stories, and more. Of course, there is someone like Fred Greetham, who I worked with for 20 years, who is a regular in Berea and represents all of us. Every member of this team is incredible in their own way. I am lucky.

I sometimes get stuck because of the way I make fun of myself on these blogs and elsewhere, describing myself (accurately) as a “webdork” and the like. I think one of the reasons I did that was because deep down I felt like I really didn’t deserve the situation that I might have ended up in here with OBR.

Not only are we fortunate to have an incredibly qualified team, but our loyal followers and forum members put us in a unique and very advantageous position. We don’t work financially every day to create the next big story that will generate 100,000 page views by ripping and rewriting the most obscene things we can find on social media or eliminating the “cool things” that even we don’t do. trust.

I’ve always delved into the dark side of sports media, but, in a way, I feel sympathy for what they have to do. Their business model is the only way for them to survive, as they do not have the loyal fans that we have gained over the past 25 years, which provide a steady stream of income that allows us to continue. continue even when the team is no longer there. cooperate. by delivering engaging stories in a given month.

I look at some of our competitors and they are struggling. They don’t admit it, but I see the signs. I understand what they are going through. I really don’t want this to become a discussion about “OBR Status”. I just don’t have any vision about football today and I write what I think. There are so many exciting things going on behind the scenes – so many exciting possibilities about the future, and every day I wake up excited about the day’s work ahead. There aren’t many 62 year olds with 20+ years of experience who can say that.

Every day when I start my day, I open a Mac app called NotePlan and write down my tasks and other plans for the day, as well as other things. One of the things I write down every day is what I’m grateful for. I try to provide the most original things possible. But honestly, I could just write “OBR” every day and continue with my daily routine.
