BREAKING: Miami Dolphins Lose Key Offensive Starter For Four Games

The Miami Dolphins will lose one of their key offensive starters for at least two games. The Dolphins have dealt with a few significant injuries on offense the previous few weeks. They placed two wide receivers on injured reserve last week

On Monday, the Dolphins ruled out Terron Armstead for their Week 5 game against the New York Giants due to a knee injury. Head coach Mike McDaniel said earlier this week the injury would be measured in terms of weeks missed instead of days.

According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, the Dolphins are placing Armstead on injured reserve due to the knee injury he suffered in Week 4. The Dolphins expect Armstead to return this season.

Losing Armstead will be a big hurt for the Dolphins offensive line. The team needs to make sure Tua Tagovailoa stays upright. That will be harder with a starting offensive lineman on the injured reserve.

Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane has been on absolute first over the past three weeks. The rookie third-round pick from Texas A&M has tallied 518 total yards and seven touchdowns at a clip of 11.5 yards per touch during this span.

Unfortunately, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel broke some news in his day-after press conference after they defeated the New York Giants on Sunday. McDaniel noted that Achane is dealing with a knee injury and is being evaluated by the team’s medical staff.

“When I don’t know, I don’t spend any time forecasting either way,” McDaniel on De’Von Achane’s injury. “We’re just evaluating him. That’s part of the process.”

The fact that we’re hearing about this for the first time during a press conference has to, at the very least, be a bit concerning.

Achane ran the ball 11 times for 151 yards in Sunday’s win over the Giants. That included a 76-yard touchdown run.

The mid-round pick has been setting NFL records since missing the first game of the season due to injury. He’s the first player in NFL history to gain north of 100 rushing yards while averaging double-digit yards per rush in three consecutive games.

Achane also became the first player in the Super Bowl era to record seven total touchdowns in his first four career games. This is insane given that he touched the ball just two times in his regular-season debut Week 2 against the New England Patriots.

We obviously don’t have enough to go on when it comes to determining Achane’s status for next week against the Carolina Panthers. Updates will be provided.

For now, Raheem Mostert will likely continue to see a ton of touches. He’s gained 442 total yards with a league-leading eight touchdowns for the high-flying Miami Dolphins offensive attack.

MIAMI GARDENS — All day Sunday, the Miami Dolphins defense put in its work in the team’s 31-16 victory against the hapless New York Giants. The results were encouraging. They defense recorded a season-best in sacks (seven), a season-best in quarterback hits (14), didn’t allow an offensive touchdown, and held the Giants to 85 yards rushing, the second-best total of the season. The Dolphins defense, which was blamed for a lot of the problems of last year’s 9-8 season and therefore made some major changes in the offseason, turned in a solid game Sunday.
