Buffalo Bills Sign Former All-Pro Cornerback After Another Defensive Injury In Week 5

The Buffalo Bills have had a couple of season-ending injuries on the defensive side of the ball. Tre’Davious White and now Matt Milano are two key pieces of the defense that will now be out for extended periods of time. To help the defense, the Bills are signing former All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman.

Panthers CB Josh Norman on if he expected more snaps: 'Inshallah'

Norman played for the Bills back in 2020 when they almost beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. Since then, he has bounced around to a couple of teams and hasn’t made much of an impact. His All-Pro season came in 2015 when he was with the Carolina Panthers but the season after he went to Washington. The Bills are hoping that he can recapture the magic from eight years ago and help a defense that will need to be on their A-game if they are going to stop the AFC’s best quarterbacks.

They have looked good this season on offense. Last week’s loss in London doesn’t look good but the London game is always difficult to analyze. The time change and travel stress the players in a way that no other game does. The Jaguars had spent the whole week in London so they were more adjusted than the Bills. Still, the Bills will need to have more consistency if they are going to finally make it back to the Super Bowl. The good news is they have a big win against the Dolphins under their belt which will help them in the division as well. It is a long season but it looks like the Bills will be in it when the playoff push comes.

Will Josh Norman be able to help the Buffalo Bills? The 35-year-old hasn’t looked like his All-Pro self in years but maybe he can recapture the magic for one more run.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. (1) runs in to score a touchdown during an NFL football game between Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London, Sunday

LONDON — The Buffalo Bills were firing on all cylinders over the last three weeks in blowout wins over the Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders and Miami Dolphins. At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, however, the Bills seemed to play without any fire on the offensive side of the ball for much of the game.

Dropped passes, struggles in the run game, penalties and short drives plagued Buffalo’s through most of their 25-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Buffalo was able to get things going late in the game, but by then it was too late.

No one wanted to use traveling late in the week as an excuse, but multiple players and head coach Sean McDermott noted that the team lacked energy and urgency. That likely came due to not being adjusted to London time. If the Bills travel overseas again, McDermott admitted that the team will reevaluate their decision on when they leave.

“We need to evaluate everything,” McDermott said. “because I didn’t feel like our energy was good enough early in the game. They had better energy than we did.”

Stefon Diggs: Stefon Diggs came to London ready to play. The wide receiver wasn’t sleepwalking on Sunday and used double moves twice to get behind the defense. Both could have gone for touchdowns with better passes, but one went for a long completion (48 yards) while the other was ultimately intercepted by Darious Williams. Allen admitted postgame that he had to readjust the ball which led to his timing being off and Williams being able to recover on the play. Diggs was almost able to carry Buffalo to a win on Sunday and finished with an 8-121-1 stat lin

A.J. Epenesa: Things are clicking for A.J. Epenesa after a slow start in his career. Now, in the final year of his rookie contract, Epenesa looks exactly like the player that Buffalo envisioned when they selected him in the second round. The defensive end made life miserable for Cam Robinson and Trevor Lawrence in the loss. He recorded two sacks, three passes defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the game

Gabe Davis: There was a frustrating drop that all but ended a drive for the Bills earlier in the game, but overall Gabe Davis was excellent. He hauled in six passes for 100 yards and one score on eight targets. Davis’ best pass came late in the game when he hauled in a laser from Allen along the sidelines. He brought down the contested catch, pulling the ball in from up high, and found a way to get his feet inbounds. The level of difficulty on the catch was nothing short of jaw-dropping
