Green Bay Packers sign big free agent running back
The Green Bay Packers signed a former 1,000-yard single-season rusher Tuesday. The Packers have needed depth in the backfield since Aaron Jones sustained a hamstring injury in Week 1. Jones returned to action in Week 4 but played limited snaps in the loss to the Detroit
The Packers were without Jones in their loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5. Jones was back to practice Monday, and he’s tracking to play the Denver Broncos coming off the bye week.
However, Jones’ absence has shown the Packers backfield has glaring issues. AJ Dillon, Packers RB2, is averaging just 3 yards per carry this season. The Packers signed a free agent who could compete for touches behind Jones.
Green Bay Packers running back sign According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers have signed former Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson.

Robinson earned All-Rookie honors in 2020 with the Jacksonville Jaguars when he racked up 1,070 rushing yards. The Packers drafted Robinson two weeks ago, but waited until Week 7 to sign Robinson.
Robinson spent time with the New York Jets in 2022. He was on the practice squads of the New England Patriots and New York Giants this season.
