Deshaun Watson’s colleague from the Cleveland Browns says he plans to resume practicing.
The Cleveland Browns have not fielded Deshaun Watson in either of the last two contests. The club was defeated 28-3 by the Baltimore Ravens in their debut game. However, P.J. Walker managed to lead the squad to win in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers, who were previously unbeaten.
Watson has missed the last three weeks of action because of a shoulder injury, specifically a deep rotator cuff contusion. The Browns will have a bye in Week 5.
Watson has taken it easy on his injured shoulder during his absence, mainly refraining from throwing during practice to hasten the healing process.
Amari Cooper, a teammate, claims that Watson will make his way back to Browns practice on Thursday. If true, he won’t have made a throw during practice since September 29.
Watson is anticipated to start throwing again, but he is not anticipated to take part in the entire practice, raising doubts about his availability for Week 7. In 2023, Watson has started three of the team’s five games. Walker will make his second start of the season for the Browns against the Indianapolis Colts in the event that Watson is unable to play.

You can see my first forecast of the 53-man roster here, where I guessed at what I thought the squad may look like in September 2024. As the season progresses, I will be delving more into each position group.
Firstly, we shall examine the way in which Andrew Berry’s position room is constructed at the beginning of the season every year.
Based on past performances, the Cleveland Browns are probably going to enter the 2024 season with two quarterbacks on the final 53-man roster and one on the practice squad.
Last season, they took a chance by retaining Mond in the hopes that he might become something. This appears to be a one-time event for the time being, but since it makes sense to plan ahead a year, they might try to choose someone for Thompson-Robinson’s final season in 2026.
Since the quarterback position is the one that determines all other position rooms using my model, we didn’t have much insight when I wrote my OBR VIP piece examining how much they are anticipated to spend position room by position room during the 2024 season.
This is because of how drastically it can vary from year to year:
The reason 2022 was so high was because they were giving Mayfield $10.5 million in addition to Watson and Brissett to persuade him to depart.Following the Steelers’ defeat, many inquired about the earliest possible termination date for Watson’s contract; the article can be found here. In the worst-case scenario, the conclusion is that he will be on the roster through the end of the 2025 season.
If we assume better things will happen, he will probably receive a substantial contract extension at the conclusion of the 2024 season, which will keep him in Cleveland until he retires as a Brown. You can read that story here.
Some folks, primarily Bengals supporters, are quite concerned about Watson’s future salary cap hits.
Watson is ranked about league average in most metrics through three games this season. While not too horrible, this could definitely be improved as we move forward. You should be guaranteed a postseason spot with this defense and at least league-average quarterback play, but to stack victories in the postseason, we will need to see improvements in the passing game.
Not only did Browns supporters talk about Thompson-Robinson as one of the league’s most interesting young quarterbacks during the preseason, but the media for teams with quarterback problems also discussed him. I recall hearing multiple commentators who cover the team suggest him as a potential trade candidate. I’m glaring at you, New England.
Being the worst of the last three day three or undrafted free agents to make their starting debut, the debut was extremely awful. Even while this will reduce his trade worth, it won’t last long till he resumes his impressive play in the offseason.
There have been concerns about Thompson-Robinson’s future in Cleveland, as it has been contingent upon what the trade market will yield. Following his completion of two seasons on
