After guiding Bellefontaine to an 8-2 regular season record the previous year before losing in the Chiefs’ opening playoff game—a game Bellefontaine lost on the final play of the game—the 6-foot-4, 216-pound St. Clair is having another excellent season. In his sophomore season, St. Clair completed 208 of 294 passes (71%) for 2,453 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just four interceptions.

St. Clair has completed 141 of 202 passes (69.8%) for 1,836 yards with 23 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in 8 games this season. His average yardage is 229.5.

St. Clair is rated as a 4-star talent by 247Sports for the 2025 class. He is ranked as the third quarterback, the top prospect in Ohio, and the 35th best prospect nationwide for the class of 2025.

Ryan Day leads his side to a perfect 7-0 record just over halfway through the current campaign. Last Saturday, Ohio State defeated Penn State 20–12 at Ohio Stadium, earning the head coach of Ohio State his second top–ten triumph of the season. The outcome solidified the Buckeyes’ status as one of the best teams in the nation.Tavien St. Clair Emerges As Ohio State's 2025 Quarterback After Going Head-to-Head with Ryan Montgomery | Eleven Warriors

But the Scarlet and Gray need to keep winning games in order to hold onto that status. That begins this coming weekend when they travel to play Wisconsin. Ohio State will play in a primetime matchup against a hostile crowd at Camp Randall Stadium.

Prior to the Buckeyes’ game against the Badgers on Tuesday, head coach Ryan Day had a press conference with members of the local media.

Let’s examine some of Day’s most important remarks and their implications for the Scarlet and Gray.

“We definitely hope TreVeyon Henderson has a significant impact. He demonstrated his ability to hit a home run during the Notre Dame game, as we all know. That made a significant difference to what we were doing, without a doubt. Every single one of our running backs is someone we trust. However, he does provide us the chance to be explosive and hit a home run. Thus, that is not a random event. That carries a lot of implications. But maybe after a strong practice week, he can take the field.”

This season, talk has mostly focused on Ohio State’s run game. With an average of 127 yards per game on the ground, the Buckeyes are ranked No. 101 in the nation in terms of running yards. During Day’s six years with the Scarlet and Gray, the offense has not finished below 171.29 running yards per game on average.

It’s obvious that Ohio State is better when running back TreVeyon Henderson is on the field, even though there are undoubtedly problems with rushing the ball, as we have already covered in this space. Henderson has averaged 73.75 rushing yards per game in four games this season. The Buckeyes have averaged little over 101 yards per game as a team, despite the junior’s absence from the last three games.

Henderson is not perfect; in fact, there are undoubtedly several things he might do better. However, his capacity to produce the big play alters how the Scarlet and Gray offense is executed. Day mentioned Henderson’s 61-yard touchdown run against Notre Dame as an example of this; Ohio State has had players make plays like this throughout Henderson’s career.
