Update on New York Giants Injuries: Schmitz and Bellinger Leave Game

The Giants, who are also playing a game riddled with errors, are taking hits left and right.

the middle John Michael Schmitz sustained a tight end and shoulder injury. A knee injury to Daniel Bellinger occurred during the game’s opening quarter. Both players were later ruled out by the Giants.

Due to Schmitz’s injury, the Giants used their sixth offensive line configuration of the season, with Ben Bredeson switching from left guard to center and Shane Lemieux substituting at left guard. Andrew Thomas, a left tackle for the Giants, has been out since suffering a hamstring injury and is only expected to be out for a few weeks.

Though it’s unclear how serious his injury is, Bellinger, the team’s second-best tight end, is also the best blocker among the position group and may be the most versatile. He was also ruled out of the game. Two plays after New York quarterback Daniel Jones lost the ball on a strip sack by Mario Edwards, the Seahawks’ Geno Smith found receiver D.K. Metcalfe in the right side of the end zone for a 6-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead following the extra point.
