BREAKING: New York Giants Reveal Starting Quarterback Decision Against New York Jets In Week 8

The New York Giants revealed their decision as to who would be the starting quarterback for the team in Week 8 against the New York Jets.

Daniel Jones' poise adds excitement to possible NFC Wild Card game

Starting quarterback Daniel Jones has missed the previous two games due to an ongoing neck injury. He was limited in practice this week, and there was hope he could return in time to play the Jets.

According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Giants will start Tyrod Taylor against the Jets in Week 8.

Back in 2021, Daniel Jones missed six starts due to a cervical neck strain, ending the New York Giants’ starting quarterback’s season far too early. Jones once again suffered a cervical neck injury in Oct. 8’s 31-16 loss to Miami. The 26-year-old QB hasn’t played since.

Jones has already been ruled out for the Giants’ Week 8 battle against the New York Jets. There’s no sense on when the Giants’ franchise QB will return to the starting lineup, and head coach Brian Daboll’s outlook on the situation may be getting worse.

Head coach Brian Daboll said that it’s status quo for Jones, which means Tyrod Taylor, who has started the last two games and who has gone 1-1 over that span, has taken the bulk of the team reps this week in practice and will get a third straight start this Sunday when the Giants host the New York Jets. Related: Why Daniel Jones is Confident He’ll Be Able to Return from Neck Injury It also likely means that Tommy DeVito, who has already been elevated twice off the practice squad, will receive his third and final elevation. If Jones continues to not receive medical clearance after this week, the Giants will no doubt have to decide regarding either DeVito or another quarterback to the 53-man roster. Daboll has said that once Jones is healthy, he will return as the starting quarterback.

In other injury news, center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) worked in team drills during Wednesday’s practice and was expected to do so again on Thursday. Schmitz appears to be trending toward returning after a three-game absence following his injury. Speaking of Thomas, he appeared to come through Wednesday’s practice in which he was limited with no setbacks. Daboll said that Thomas would see an increase in his workload Thursday as the team continues to monitor whether they’ll have one of their most important players on offense back or if they decide to wait another week to allow Thomas, who hasn’t played since Week 1 and who last tried to practice before the team’s Week 4 game against Seattle, to get more up to speed. As for the rest of Thursday’s injury report, Daboll said it should look the same as Wednesday’s.
