Positive news Oklahoma Uses Transfer Portal to Secure Fourth …..

On Monday, the Sooners added a veteran from one of the best teams in the country to their offensive line.

On Monday afternoon, former Washington offensive lineman Geirean Hatchett announced that he will transfer to Oklahoma.

Hatchett announced on Thursday that he was entering the transfer portal after four years with the Huskies, playing sparingly throughout this final two seasons.

Pro Football Focus gave the 6-foot-4, 303-pound guard a 59.8 offensive grade in 2023, down from 72.6 in 2022. With 264 offensive snaps under his belt in Kalen DeBoer’s scheme this season, the redshirt junior earned a 45.5 pass blocking mark and a 62.0 run blocking grade, per PFF.

Hatchett played just 71 snaps the prior season, yet he finished with a 67.0 pass blocking mark and a 70.1 run blocking grade. Hatchett played right guard for the majority of his tenure at Washington, but in the College Football Playoff semifinal versus Texas, he played a brief stint at left guard.

Originating in Ferndale, Washington, Hatchett was a four-star prospect straight out of high school, ranked No. 207 overall and No. 8 as a guard in the 247Sports composite rankings.

In light of the Sooners’ departure of guards Nate Anderson, Savion Byrd, McKade Mettauer, and Cayden Green as OU moves into the SEC, Hatchett’s commitment is crucial for Bill Bedenbaugh and company.

But Hatchett isn’t the only new face in the trenches; throughout the offseason, Spencer Brown, Michael Tarquin, and Febechi Nwaiwu also moved to Norman.

With the departure of Mettauer, Green, Andrew Raym, Tyler Guyton, Walter Rouse, and the program, Oklahoma will have to rebuild its offensive line from the ground up in preparation for the 2024 campaign.

Bedenbaugh should have a respectable bunch to work with going into spring practice after adding four veteran offensive lineman through the transfer portal and bringing back Jacob Sexton and other players
