With Belichick all but certain to sit out the 2024 season, a stint in sports media looks more and more likely for the all-time great coach, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. It’s unclear quite what network could ink a deal with Belichick. But given his standing around the league, he should be able to have his pick — and then could become the “most coveted coach” on the market for 2025, Rapoport said Sunday. With uncertainty clouding the Eagles’ and Cowboys’ head coaching positions coming in 2024, Belichick certainly could find a job matching his ambition after dominating the airwaves for a year.
It seems likely that Belichick won’t have a coaching position in 2024. But after missing out on this coaching cycle, don’t expect him to be hanging up his boots anytime soon.
According to CBS Sports, the renowned coach might be on his way to becoming a network analyst because, in the words of one insider, “every network would want him.” It is thought that a studio would be a better fit for him than a broadcast booth.
The article suggests that Belichick may then be considering a return to coaching in 2025, although it also notes that he will probably be careful about where he goes.
According to a someone close to Belichick, “He was going to be picky anyway,” as CBS Sports was informed. “He needs someone to give him total control.”
Reports are surfacing explaining why Belichick and the Falcons weren’t a fit, as it now appears unlikely that he would be hired as head coach.
consultations with Arthur Blank, the owner Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports claims that this “crystallized Belichick’s continued belief that the full scope of football operations, personnel, and coaching should be under his decision-making umbrella.”
Even if Belichick was in charge in New England, the NFL today is becoming fewer and farther apart from that kind of organization. During his last several years with the team, Belichick’s personnel record was likewise not particularly impressive.
Robinson claims that although the team recognized “realignment” would probably need to occur if the Patriots legend was hired, Belichick and Blank “never discussed a detailed plan of how a linear chain of command” would function.
“Impressive interviews and internal persuasion” diverted the Falcons’ attention from Belichick.

When the Falcons were looking for a new coach, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that Falcons owner Arthur Blank had Belichick as his top choice. However, “internal persuasion” and compelling interviews by other candidates diverted the search.
The Falcons announced the hire of Raheem Morris on Thursday night, ending a wide-ranging search that initially looked like Belichick’s to lose.
Rather than following the great former Patriots head coach, the Falcons have decided to take a different route. Several reports claim that Atlanta intends to replace Arthur Smith with Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris rather than Belichick.

At this stage of their coaching search, Atlanta “doesn’t sound like a team that’s ready to make a move on Bill Belichick,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on “Get Up.”
Regarding the Falcons, Schefter stated, “If it’s wide open after you’ve met with Bill Belichick twice, that certainly tells you that he’s not the favorite for the job.”
The NFL’s coaching rotation “moves in funny patterns sometimes,” according to Schefter, so Belichick is still a possibility in the Falcons’ contest.
That being said, Belichick’s chances of coaching for the 2024 NFL season are uncertain if he is not hired by Atlanta.
Schefter stated of Belichick, “He has not talked to any of the other three teams.” “So of the four teams with the remaining openings, there’s a real possibility that he’s not going to get any of these head coaching jobs.”
What Belichick does in the event that he is not hired as a coach is still unknown. It’s difficult for him to picture himself in that role, but he might think about it.
