Ideal Packers Preseason Preview: Quarterbacks and Jordan Love
This is a look at the quarterback position for the Green Bay Packers and what would make this offseason ideal.
GREEN BAY, Wisconsin: The Green Bay Packers’ offseason will be free of drama, at least when it comes to quarterback.
It’s obvious that Aaron Rodgers will not be retiring. Retreating to Middle of Nowhere, Oregon, in the dead of night is not an option. Regarding if a cell tower is operational close to Rodgers’ location, there is no cause for alarm. The Pat McAfee Show is not necessary to listen to.
Rodgers was an exceptional quarterback who led the Packers to the playoffs year after year and won four NFL MVP awards. Over his career, Aaron Rodgers caused headaches for defensive coordinators, as well as for general manager Brian Gutekunst of the Packers.

During Rodgers’ MVP seasons and his torrid running of the table in 2016, Love was every bit as good.
Sean Clifford, a rookie selected in the fifth round, was the Packers’ risky choice to back up first-year starter Love. Who knows what would have occurred if Clifford had been called up, but the Packers have a 0.0 percent chance of having to search free agency for an experienced No. 2 after a successful training camp and preseason. Clifford lacks great physical attributes, but he makes up for it with a strong arm and excellent agility.
All three players are back, including Alex McGough who spent the season on the practice squad. With Clifford signed through the 2026 season and Love and the Packers likely to reach a long-term agreement, free agency won’t be an issue for a few years at least.
