NOTTINGHAM FOREST NOW WANT £120,000-A-WEEK CHELSEA PLAYER ON TOP OF CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Chelsea defender Malang Sarr.

According to Foot Mercato, Nottingham Forest and Fulham are both keen on Malang Sarr

The 24-year-old is not the only Chelsea player who Forest have on their radar, though. As per The Guardian, the East Midlands club are close to signing Callum Hudson-Odoi from their Premier League rivals.

Sarr and Hudson-Odoi are both yet to feature under Mauricio Pochettino this season, so their futures do look to be away from Stamford Bridge.

A permanent sale would see Chelsea make a profit on their French defender after they picked him up on a free transfer from Nice back in 2020, though Foot Mercato’s report claims that he could be let go for nothing.

Because Sarr is not playing for Chelsea right now, a switch to Forest or another club makes sense.

The current campaign is in its infancy, but Sarr is not part of the Blues’ first team and Pochettino already has several central defensive options, so you cannot see his situation improving if he does remain at Stamford Bridge.

At present, Pochettino can call upon Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill and Axel Disasi when assembling his backline. The Argentine also has Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, who will give their boss even more options when they return from injury.

When you consider all of the above, Sarr has to leave Stamford Bridge this transfer window, otherwise the £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) centre-back faces a season on the bench at best.

Forest have done well with Steve Cooper at the helm, finishing 16th in the Premier League table last term. Moving to his side and getting to play regularly in the top flight should appeal to Sarr. It sounds way better than remaining at Chelsea and not getting a look in, which is bound to happen if he remains in west London.
