£15 million Crystal Palace deal for West Cumbrian Dean Henderson

West Cumbrian Dean Henderson has joined Crystal Palace for £15m on a long-term deal.
It ended a string of loan deals that were largely the price he paid to become David de Gea’s assistant at Manchester United.
In fact, over the past eight years, Henderson has had six loan spells with Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury Town, Sheffield United and twice with Notts Forest.

“This club has a lot of fans and a lot of top players who are hungry for success.
There’s something building here and I really want to be a part of it.
But he also had a message for United fans on social media:
“Farewell to United was an emotional moment for me.
This club has been a part of my life since I was little.
“From growing up as a United fan, to joining the academy as a 14-year-old boy, to stepping foot at Old Trafford!
“This trip has been a dream come true and I feel very blessed and blessed to have made this dream come true.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone at the club who believed in my potential and helped shape my career.
“To everyone at the academy, teammates, family, manager and backstage staff, your guidance and support has helped me grow into the player and person I am today.
“And to the fans, your support means a lot to me and my family.
I have been at United since I was a child and to wear the United badge on my chest is an honor that cannot be expressed in words.
“I have never taken it for granted that wearing a shirt is a thing.
We’ve had our ups and downs, but I want to thank all of you for being by my side all this time.
“Thanks for the memories and I wish the club all the best for the future.

Henderson began his career as a youth player at Carlisle United before joining Manchester United in 2011.

According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace could target Sydney van Hooijdonk as Roy Hodgson continues to search for a new striker.
The 23-year-old Serie A striker could leave Bologna but Wolfsburg has submitted an offer to buy the Dutch striker.
Wolfsburg’s £8m offer for Sydney van Hooijdonk has yet to be accepted by Bologna, but the Dutch forward is increasingly likely to leave before the transfer window closes.
The German club were hoping to strike a deal with the striker but now, with the arrival of Crystal Palace, things could get complicated.
Van Hooijdonk fell short of the expected form at Bologna but enjoyed a fantastic season on loan at Herenveen.
In the Eredivisie, the 23-year-old Serie A striker has scored 19 goals in 39 games in all competitions despite being sold by the Italian club.
Palace, for its part, are looking for another standout option to add depth to the location.
They started the season with Odsonne Edouard but were unable to replace Wilfried Zaha enough.
Roy Hodgson is expecting a new striker but they have not made any progress so far.
Palace are working to sign Kelechi Iheanacho but have yet to agree a fee with Leicester City.
There is a lot of optimism about closing the deal, but the club are also looking for alternatives should they fail to buy the Nigerian.
There are links to Hugo Ekitike but doubts persist about the French forward’s move to England.
